Thesis: Should all Soldiers be Sensation Seekers? The Role of Personality in the Context of Operational Deployments

Supervisors: Prof Dr Euwema and Prof Dr Mylle

Summary of the main findings:

-   In military task environments situational threats and predictability are perceived differently according to
    perceivers’ sensation seeking and need for structure;

-   Reflecting operational reality an adjustment in expressed personality-based needs, sensation seeking
    and need for structure is observable;

-   Accordance between deployed soldiers personality predispositions and the reality of deployment increases
    the likelihood to cope better with the deployment experience
